ED Conducts Raids in 10 States Over Medical Colleges Bribery Case

New Delhi, Nov 27: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Thursday carried out coordinated searches across ten states in a money laundering probe linked to alleged bribery in granting academic sanctions to certain medical colleges.

At least 15 locations were targeted in Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, and Delhi. The raids included seven medical college premises and several private individuals.

The case originates from a June CBI FIR alleging that government officials, including National Medical Commission (NMC) officers, were bribed to leak confidential information on college inspections. This, according to authorities, allowed middlemen and college management to manipulate inspection parameters and secure approvals for running courses.

The actions are being undertaken under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), with investigations ongoing across the involved states. (Agencies)
