Outrage Grows Over Alleged Cardiology Irregularities At GMC Anantnag; Public Seeks FIR, Doctor’s Registration Cancellation
by Northlines · NorthlinesSrinagar, Jun 20: Public outrage has intensified after the Health and Medical Education Department initiated disciplinary proceedings against a cardiologist posted at Government Medical College (GMC) Anantnag over allegations of fraud, manipulation of medical records, misuse of government health schemes and performing allegedly unindicated cardiac procedures.
People from different sections of society have termed the allegations serious and demanded a transparent, time-bound investigation. They urged the government to register an FIR, initiate a criminal probe and recommend cancellation of the doctor’s medical registration if the allegations are substantiated during the inquiry.
Residents said that if the allegations relating to patient exploitation, falsification of records and misuse of the PMJAY-SEHAT scheme are proven, they would constitute a serious breach of public trust and compromise patient safety. They also called for an in-depth investigation to determine whether others were involved and whether public funds or patient welfare were affected.
The public appealed to the Jammu and Kashmir Government and the Health and Medical Education Department to ensure accountability and take appropriate legal and departmental action against anyone found guilty. They stressed that no individual should be exempt from action if wrongdoing is established.
Meanwhile, the departmental inquiry is underway, and authorities are expected to take further action based on its findings. Any determination of guilt will depend on the outcome of the ongoing investigation. (Agencies)
