J&K: Woman Wanted in Multiple NDPS Cases Arrested in Anantnag

ANANTNAG, May 5: Police on Tuesday arrested a woman drug peddler wanted in multiple narcotics cases in Jammu and Kashmir’s Anantnag district and recovered contraband substances from her possession.

The arrest was made during a routine naka checking at Laalan Bypass by a team from Police Post Dialgam. The accused, who was approaching from Bondialgam towards Laalan, attempted to flee on noticing the police, raising suspicion.

Acting swiftly, the naka party apprehended her on the spot. During the search, a heroin-like substance was recovered from her possession.

She was identified as Shugafta Akhter, daughter of Mohd Hussain Dar, a resident of Dangerpora, Anantnag.

Police have registered a case under Sections 8/21 of the NDPS Act (FIR No. 130/2026) and initiated further investigation.

Officials said the accused is a notorious and most-wanted drug peddler involved in multiple NDPS cases, and her arrest is being seen as a significant success in the ongoing anti-drug campaign ‘Nasha Mukhtsar J&K Abhiyan’ in the district.
