J&K: 3 Arrested for Alleged Sacrilegious Act in Doda

JAMMU, Dec 18: Jammu and Kashmir Police on Thursday arrested three persons in connection with an alleged sacrilegious act reported from Doda district, officials said.

The arrests were made following information about the incident that took place late Wednesday night in Sarsi village. Police said a case under relevant sections of law was registered at Doda police station soon after the incident came to light.

The alleged killing of a bovine animal triggered protests by local residents in the area, prompting swift police action. Officials said the three accused were subsequently identified and taken into custody.

An investigation into the matter has been initiated, and further details will emerge as the probe progresses, police added.   (Agencies)
