Rajouri: Security forces recovered four hand grenades after busting a suspected terror hideout in the Gambhir Mughlan area of Rajouri district in Jammu and Kashmir during an intelligence-based operation, officials said.

Acting on specific inputs about the possible presence of explosives, a joint team of the Indian Army’s Rashtriya Rifles and the Jammu and Kashmir Police launched a carefully planned search operation to avert any potential threat to civilians and security installations. The area was immediately sealed and thoroughly combed to prevent movement of hostile elements.

During the operation, the joint team located a concealed hideout from where four hand grenades were recovered. The explosives were later destroyed in a controlled manner to eliminate any risk, officials said, terming the recovery a significant success in preventing possible terror-related activities.

Following the seizure, security forces intensified surveillance and extended combing operations to nearby villages and forested areas to ensure the region is fully sanitized. Residents have been advised to cooperate with security personnel and report any suspicious movement.

Officials said the operation reflects heightened vigilance and forms part of a broader strategy to dismantle militant infrastructure that exploits difficult terrain and remote locations to stash arms and explosives.

The Rajouri recovery comes close on the heels of another intelligence-driven operation in Doda district, where police recently recovered a self-loading rifle along with magazines and live ammunition from a forest area. Officials said that seizure was an important step towards strengthening the security framework and preventing weapons from falling into the hands of disruptive elements. (Agencies)
