Terror Plot Foiled: Delhi Police Nab 2 In Mumbai
by Northlines · NorthlinesNew Delhi: Delhi Police Special Cell has arrested two key suspects and detained several others in a coordinated nationwide crackdown on an alleged terror network, with the main operation carried out in Mumbai, officials said.
The accused were part of a radicalised module inspired by the Islamic State and were allegedly planning attacks using remote-controlled toy car bombs. Authorities recovered incriminating material, including sensitive documents and digital chats, indicating work on improvised explosive devices (IEDs).
The arrests were made in Kurla and Khadavli, where Mossab Ahmad alias Kalam and Mohammad Hamad were apprehended in a joint operation with the Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad. Investigators said the duo was linked to online radical groups such as “Mission Khilafat” and “Soldiers of Jihad.”
Probe agencies also found suspected links to Abu Hufeiza, believed to be associated with Jaish-e-Mohammed, who allegedly posed as an IS recruiter on Telegram to radicalise youths.
Officials said searches were conducted in Kurla, Shivaji Nagar and Govandi, leading to the seizure of mobile phones and electronic devices. The investigation has widened, with several more individuals under scrutiny, including four to five minors reportedly influenced by IS propaganda.
Security agencies are now working to map the full network, identify handlers and prevent sleeper cell activity, with central and state agencies coordinating closely.
The crackdown follows a recent operation in Kushinagar, where a suspect linked to an IS module was arrested with the help of the UP ATS, and comes amid heightened security concerns after previous terror incidents and ongoing counter-terror operations across the country. (Agencies)
