Makhdoomi set to be appointed Chairman BOSE

Cabinet finalized name in Dec 22 meeting; notification likely today

Jammu Tawi, Jan 1: Prof. Wahid Makhdoomi, Registrar of the Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST), is set to be appointed Chairman of the Jammu & Kashmir Board of School Education (BOSE), sources disclosed.

Sources in the J&K administration said that the cabinet, headed by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, in its meeting on December 22, 2025, finalized the name of Prof. Wahid Makhdoomi from among three candidates recommended by the search panel constituted by the J&K government.

The cabinet decision was then sent to Lok Bhavan, formerly Raj Bhavan, for approval, which has since given its go-ahead.

According to sources, the government is expected to issue a formal notification tomorrow regarding the appointment of Makhdoomi as head of BOSE.

About Prof. Wahid Makhdoomi

A distinguished academician, Makhdoomi has held key academic and administrative positions over the past 35 years. He joined the Higher Education Department in 1991 as an Assistant Professor, then referred to as Lecturer.

He headed the Electronics and Information Technology Department at several prestigious institutions, including Women’s College M.A. Road, S.P. College, Bemina College, and GDC Baramulla. He also served as Principal of GDC Hadipora (Baramulla) and Gandhi Memorial College, Srinagar.

Makhdoomi further worked at the Central University and also served as Joint Secretary and Director Academics at JKBOSE before joining IUST as Registrar in 2024.
