Delete social media, stay focused: J&K NEET toppers share success mantra
by Northlines · NorthlinesSrinagar, Jul 17: Jammu and Kashmir has delivered one of its best-ever performances in the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) UG 2026, with several students from the Valley securing top ranks and inspiring aspiring doctors across the region.
Hadiya Nisar from Anantnag emerged as the highest-ranked candidate from J&K, securing an All India Rank (AIR) of 99 with a 99.9931 percentile. Another top achiever, Zaidan Wani, secured AIR 124 with over 690 marks, placing him among the country’s top 125 candidates. Hadiya and Zaidan are among only 138 candidates nationwide to score above 690 marks.
Zaara Mushtaq Katoo from Harnag in Anantnag also excelled by scoring 610 marks, crediting her success to discipline and avoiding distractions.
“My advice to every NEET aspirant is to delete social media applications and focus completely on studies. Social media wastes valuable time. Consistency, discipline and hard work are the real keys to success,” Zaara said.
She also encouraged unsuccessful candidates not to lose hope, saying that failure is only a stepping stone and that perseverance eventually leads to success.
Hadiya attributed her achievement to disciplined preparation, regular study habits and the unwavering support of her parents and teachers.
“This achievement belongs to my parents and teachers as much as it belongs to me. Stay focused, trust your preparation and never compare yourself with others because every student’s journey is different,” she said.
Her parents, Nisar Ahmed and Zubia, urged parents to support children according to their abilities instead of burdening them with unrealistic expectations.
“Every child has different capabilities. Parents should encourage them rather than compare them with others. Success comes through patience and consistent effort,” they said.
Zaidan advised aspirants not to be discouraged by setbacks.
“Don’t lose heart because of one result. Keep working hard, believe in yourself and never give up. There are countless opportunities in life for those who remain determined,” he said.
Educationists said the outstanding performance of J&K students reflects the region’s growing academic culture and is expected to motivate more students to excel in national-level competitive examinations through dedication, discipline and self-belief.
