J&K: Constable Arrested For Hitting SHO With Vehicle In Anantnag
by Northlines · NorthlinesSrinagar, Sept 14: A selection-grade constable was arrested on Monday for allegedly hitting and injuring a Station House Officer (SHO) with his vehicle near the Bijbehara police station in Anantnag district of Jammu and Kashmir.
Officials said the incident occurred late Sunday evening when SHO Majid Ahmad Khan was on duty near the police station. The constable allegedly hit the officer with his vehicle while driving at excessive speed, leaving him injured.
The accused was identified as selection-grade constable Khurshid Ahmad Wani, son of Mohd Abdullah Wani, a resident of Bindoo in the Kokernag area of Anantnag district.
Officials said the vehicle involved in the incident, bearing registration number JK16A-3739, was subsequently seized.
The constable was arrested for allegedly driving rashly, officials said, adding that he was being questioned in connection with the incident.
Further details regarding the circumstances leading to the incident and the condition of the injured officer were awaited.
