CJP Team Pushed Out of Jaipur Village During School Inspection

JAIPUR, Aug 21: Locals allegedly pushed a Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) team out of Rampura Kanwarpura village in Jaipur’s Bagru Assembly constituency on Friday when its members arrived to inspect a government primary school under the party’s ongoing ‘School Thik Karo’ campaign, sources said.

The CJP workers had visited the village to assess the condition of the school and interact with students and teachers. However, locals reportedly barricaded the main approach road before the team arrived and checked vehicles entering the area.

A confrontation subsequently broke out between the villagers and CJP workers, following which the team was allegedly forced to leave the area, sources said. The villagers later staged a sit-in outside the school and raised slogans against the CJP.

Bagru DSP Dharmendra Sharma said he was unaware of any such incident.

The school building has reportedly been declared unsafe and closed for students. Classes are currently being conducted in a cattle enclosure near the school building.

The villagers, joined by BJP workers, said the school could be repaired through local efforts and claimed that the government had already sanctioned funds for the work.

The CJP team had planned to visit two government schools in Jaipur district on Friday as part of its campaign to assess infrastructure, academic arrangements and facilities available to students.

The visit comes amid a controversy over restrictions on the entry of outsiders and mediapersons into government schools in Rajasthan. The state Education Department reportedly imposed restrictions following earlier CJP inspections.

CJP co-convener Ashutosh Ranka criticised the government over the restrictions, alleging that they were aimed at concealing the condition of government schools. He said the party would continue its campaign until the condition of schools across Rajasthan improves.

Under the campaign, CJP workers plan to inspect school buildings and facilities and interact with teachers and students to assess the ground situation of primary education in rural areas. (Agencies)
