PM Modi Attends Christmas Service in Delhi, Extends Festive Greetings

New Delhi, Dec 25: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday attended a Christmas morning service at the Cathedral Church of the Redemption in the national capital, joining a large congregation of Christians from Delhi and north India, and extended warm Christmas greetings to citizens.

The service featured prayers, hymns and carols, along with a special prayer for the Prime Minister offered by Rt. Rev. Dr. Paul Swarup, Bishop of Delhi. Sharing his experience on X, Modi said the service reflected the timeless message of love, peace and compassion. “May the spirit of Christmas inspire harmony and goodwill in our society,” he wrote.

Earlier in the day, the Prime Minister greeted people on the occasion of Christmas, wishing them peace, compassion and hope, and said the teachings of Jesus Christ should strengthen harmony in society.

Over the past few years, PM Modi has maintained regular engagement with the Christian community by attending religious and community programmes. He participated in an Easter event at the Sacred Heart Cathedral in Delhi in 2023 and hosted a Christmas programme at his official residence at 7, Lok Kalyan Marg the same year.

In 2024, the Prime Minister attended a Christmas dinner at the residence of Union Minister George Kurian and also participated in a programme organised by the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of India, reflecting sustained outreach to the community, sources said.

Meanwhile, Vice President C P Radhakrishnan also extended Christmas greetings, wishing people joy, love and kindness, and expressed hope that Christ’s message would inspire stronger, more caring communities and lasting peace. (Agencies)
