NEW DELHI, May 7: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday said Operation Sindoor reflected India’s firm response against terrorism and its unwavering commitment to national security.

Marking the first anniversary of the operation conducted against terror and military infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, Modi said India remains steadfast in its resolve to eliminate terrorism and dismantle its support network.

The Prime Minister said the Indian armed forces displayed “unparalleled courage, precision and resolve” during Operation Sindoor and gave a fitting reply to those responsible for the attack on innocent civilians in Pahalgam.

“The entire nation salutes the Indian forces for their valour,” Modi said in a post on X.

He said the operation highlighted the professionalism, preparedness and coordinated strength of the armed forces, while also showcasing growing synergy among India’s security agencies.

Modi further said the operation underlined the benefits of India’s push for self-reliance in the defence sector in strengthening national security.

Operation Sindoor was conducted jointly by the Army, Navy, Air Force and BSF along the western border between May 7 and 10, 2025, targeting terror camps and military facilities in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.

The operation was launched in retaliation to the April 22, 2025 terror attack in Pahalgam in which 26 people, mostly tourists, were killed. (Agencies)
