J&K: Undertrial Inmate Dies After Falling Ill In Anantnag Jail

Srinagar, Jun 20: An undertrial inmate lodged in the District Jail, Anantnag, died at a hospital after complaining of illness during the night, officials said on Saturday.

The deceased was identified as Suneel Kumar, a resident of Gandhi Camp in Jalandhar and an accused in an NDPS case. Officials said he was shifted to Government Medical College, Anantnag, after his health deteriorated, where he was declared dead.

Authorities have initiated proceedings under Section 194 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the death. Further details are awaited. (Agencies)
