Jammu, Jul 14: The Jammu and Kashmir Government has sanctioned the release of ₹25.36 crore towards payment of honorarium to eligible officials engaged in Census 2027 operations across the Union Territory.

According to a government order, the funds will be released to the Planning, Development and Monitoring Department, Divisional Commissioners, Deputy Commissioners, and the Municipal Commissioners of Jammu and Srinagar for disbursement to eligible census functionaries by July 31, 2026.

The order states that the honorarium will be paid in accordance with the norms prescribed under Census Circular No. 7 dated December 24, 2025.

It clarifies that enumerators and supervisors under the reserve quota, outsourced personnel, including Technical Assistants and Multi-Tasking Staff, as well as other ineligible functionaries, will not be entitled to the honorarium.

The Government has directed all implementing authorities to utilise the funds strictly for census-related activities. Separate accounts must be maintained, quarterly utilisation certificates submitted, and all financial records kept open for audit and inspection to ensure transparency and accountability.
