Srinagar, Sept 08: The Jammu and Kashmir Government on Tuesday cancelled its order posting a Jammu & Kashmir Administrative Service (JKAS) officer in the Assembly Secretariat.

In a fresh directive, the General Administration Department (GAD) revoked Government Order No. 1415‑JK(GAD) of 2026 dated August 19, which had transferred and posted Bilal Ahmad Mir, JKAS, Sub‑Registrar Khansahib/Budgam, as Deputy Secretary in the J&K Legislative Assembly. “It is hereby ordered that Government Order No. 1415‑JK(GAD) of 2026 dated 19.08.2026 shall be deemed to have been cancelled ab initio,” reads the order.

The same directive further stated that Jahangir Ahmed, JKAS, Sub‑Divisional Magistrate Khansahib, shall hold the charge of Sub‑Registrar Khansahib and Sub‑Registrar Budgam, in addition to his own duties, until further orders.

The posting of Bilal evoked widespread protests from the Assembly staff and legislators, prompting the Assembly Secretariat to formally write to the GAD seeking withdrawal of the order.
