Cockroach Janta Party announces nationwide membership drive, Plans Grassroots Campaign

Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Aug 6: The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) has announced a nationwide membership drive and plans to expand its activities as a public pressure group, with a focus on unemployment, education and institutional accountability.

CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke announced the membership initiative after a two-day core team meeting in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, inviting students, young professionals and citizens to join through the organisation’s website. He said unemployment would be taken up as a nationwide issue.

The organisation also announced the ‘Kya Bolti Public’ campaign for September, under which its members will travel across states, interact directly with citizens and work at the grassroots level on issues including unemployment and education.

Dipke said the organisation would remain a pressure group rather than become a conventional political party for now. He said public pressure was needed to strengthen accountability and restore trust in institutions including the political system, judiciary, media and Election Commission.

Chief spokesperson Saurav Das said the membership drive was aimed at strengthening citizens’ collective voice. He clarified that CJP was not running any crowdfunding campaign.

The organisation announced its national leadership, with Dipke as convenor-founder and Ashutosh Ranka and Das as co-convenors. Environmentalist and education activist Sonam Wangchuk will continue as mentor to the movement.

CJP also said it would support students protesting alleged irregularities in recruitment examinations in Jharkhand, with a delegation scheduled to visit Ranchi.

The organisation emerged following its Jantar Mantar protest in Delhi, which concluded on July 25 after mobilising students and youth over alleged competitive examination irregularities and paper leaks. CJP said it was also pursuing withdrawal of FIRs against protesters and providing legal and medical assistance to those injured during demonstrations. (Agencies)
