DSEJ bars schools from offline classes without safety certificates
by Northlines · NorthlinesJammu, Sep 9: The Directorate of School Education Jammu (DSEJ) on Tuesday directed that no government or private school in the region can resume offline classes unless a valid structural safety certificate is issued by the competent authority.
According to an order issued by Director School Education Jammu, Dr. Naseem Javaid Chowdhary, all Heads of Institutions (HoIs) and School Management Committees have been instructed to carry out a comprehensive safety audit of their school buildings. The detailed reports of these audits must be submitted to the concerned authorities before seeking permission to reopen.
The directive comes in the wake of concerns over the structural stability of several school buildings, particularly after recent heavy rains and floods in parts of Jammu and Kashmir.
Officials said the move is aimed at ensuring the safety of students, teachers, and staff, and to avoid any mishap arising out of unsafe infrastructure.
Schools have been warned of strict action if found functioning without the mandatory certification.
