Veterans Day Event| Govt committed to welfare of Armed Forces, says CM Omar

Srinagar, Jan 14: Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah Tuesday said that the government is committed to working for the welfare of the armed forces.

Omar Abdullah said this while paying tribute to the sacrifices and contributions of the armed forces during the Armed Forces Veterans Day event held in Akhnoor.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha also attended the event.

Addressing a gathering of veterans and their families, the Chief Minister reassured them of the government’s unwavering commitment to their welfare.

“You have given your lives to the nation; you have taken care of this country. It is our duty to work for you and your families whenever there is a problem for you,” said Omar Abdullah, as per news gathering agency.

The Chief Minister emphasized the importance of recognizing the contributions of armed forces personnel, noting that their dedication was the foundation of the nation’s security and progress.

“It is because of you that we are excelling. I assure you that the government will work for you. Recruitment, financial schemes—our administration will support you in every way possible,” he added, outlining key initiatives aimed at addressing veterans’ needs.

Highlighting the inclusive nature of his cabinet, Abdullah shared, “In my cabinet, there is a minister who comes from an army family. We will work with that understanding and perspective to address your concerns.”

Veterans were also lauded for their continued role in society even after service, with the Chief Minister describing their assistance as invaluable. “Your help is our duty, and we will do everything to fulfill it,” he promised.

The event featured moments of remembrance, celebration, and camaraderie as the sacrifices of the armed forces were honored. (KINS)
