Suvendu Adhikari’s PA Shot Dead; 2 BJP workers killed in Bengal Violence

Kolkata, May 6: A personal assistant of Suvendu Adhikari was shot dead in alleged post-poll violence in West Bengal, officials said on Wednesday.

The victim, identified as Chandranath Rath, was attacked by unidentified assailants who fired three shots at close range. He sustained bullet injuries to the head, chest, and leg, leading to his death.

Police have launched an investigation to identify and apprehend those involved in the incident.

The killing has heightened tensions in the state amid reports of post-election clashes in several areas.

In separate incidents, two BJP workers—Madhu Mondal and Jadhav Bor (45)—were killed in New Town in North 24 Parganas and Udaynarayanpur in Howrah.

According to police, one of the victims was allegedly dragged away and attacked with sharp weapons while returning home after poll victory celebrations on Monday. One person has been arrested in connection with the case.

Police have launched investigations into all incidents as tensions escalate in parts of the state following the elections. (Agencies)
