New Delhi, May 6: The National Investigation Agency has chargesheeted three individuals, including a doctor, for allegedly conspiring with ISIS-linked handlers to carry out mass poisoning in public places using a deadly biological toxin.

The accused—Syed Ahmed Mohiuddin and co-accused Azad and Mohammad Suhel from Uttar Pradesh—have been booked before a special NIA court in Ahmedabad.

According to the agency, the trio operated under instructions from foreign-based handlers linked to the Islamic State, recruiting vulnerable youth and promoting extremist activities aimed at spreading terror through prohibited weapons and bioterror methods.

Investigators said the accused planned to use ricin, a highly toxic substance derived from castor seeds and listed under Schedule I of the Chemical Weapons Convention, to execute the plot.

The case was initially registered by the Gujarat Anti-Terrorism Squad after Mohiuddin was arrested at a toll plaza in November 2025 with illegal weapons, castor oil, and other incriminating materials in his vehicle. Subsequent investigation led to the arrest of the other two accused on the same day.

Further probe in the case is ongoing, officials said. (Agencies)
