Sadhus hold protest, Demand legal action against MP Pappu Yadav

Jammu Tawi, Aug. 3: Members of the Sant Samaj on Monday staged a protest in Jammu against Lok Sabha MP Pappu Yadav over his alleged use of saffron robes during a demonstration outside Parliament, demanding strict legal action and alleging that the act hurt the religious sentiments of the Hindu community.

The protest was held at the temple premises of Shri Krishna Giri Ji Maharaj at Gumat and witnessed participation from saints of the Juna Akhara, representatives of various religious and social organisations, and a large number of devotees.

Among those present were Shri Shri 1008 Mahant Mohan Giri Ji Maharaj of Shani Mandir, Hiranagar; Mahant Datt Giri Ji Maharaj; Mahant Jasmer Jangam Ji Maharaj; Baba Khandeshwari Giri Ji Maharaj; and Rameshwar Giri Ji Maharaj of Samba, besides several other saints associated with the Juna Akhara.

Addressing the media, the saints alleged that the use of saffron attire, symbols associated with Sanatan traditions, and the image of Hindu ascetics for political purposes was highly objectionable. They claimed that the demonstration outside Parliament in saffron robes had hurt the religious sentiments of millions of followers of Sanatan Dharma and members of the Sant Samaj.

Condemning the alleged act, the Sant Samaj said no political leader had the right to ridicule or misuse the sanctity of saffron robes, Sanatan traditions, or the dignity of saints for political gain.

The protesters urged the Government and the concerned agencies to conduct an impartial inquiry into the matter and take strict legal action in accordance with the law.
