J&K: Two Arrested Under UAPA in Shopian After Incriminating Posters Seized

Shopian, Dec 20: Police arrested two persons during a night operation in the Heerpora area of south Kashmir’s Shopian district after recovering incriminating posters from their possession, sources said on Saturday.

According to police sources, a team from Police Station Heerpora apprehended the duo from Heerpora village during night hours. During subsequent searches, incriminating posters were recovered, leading to the registration of a case.

Accordingly, FIR No. 73/2025 has been registered at Police Station Heerpora under Section 13 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), and further investigation is underway.

The arrested persons have been identified as Ahsan Ahmad Wagay, son of Mohammad Shafi Wagay, a resident of Yarikha in Kulgam district, and Rahil Ahmad Bhat, son of Mohammad Amin Bhat, a resident of Lasio Bonpora in Kulgam district, the sources added. (KNC)
