PM Modi conferred with Indonesia’s highest honour ‘Bintang Adipurna’ in Jakarta
by Northlines · NorthlinesJakarta, July 7: Prime Minister Narendra Modi was on Tuesday conferred with Indonesia’s highest civilian honour, the ‘Bintang Adipurna of the Republic of Indonesia’, in recognition of his contribution to strengthening bilateral ties and cooperation between the two countries.
The prestigious award was presented by Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto during a ceremony in Jakarta.
Expressing gratitude after receiving the honour, Prime Minister Modi said the award belonged to the people of both nations and reflected the enduring friendship between India and Indonesia.
“This honour belongs to the crores of Indians. It belongs to the sentiments of the people of Indonesia and to the historic and intimate ties between India and Indonesia,” the Prime Minister’s Office said in a post on X, quoting Modi.
Modi also thanked President Prabowo, the Government of Indonesia and its people for the recognition.
“I express my heartfelt gratitude to President Prabowo Ji, the Government of Indonesia, and the people here,” he said.
The Bintang Adipurna, or Medal of Honour, is the highest civilian award of the Republic of Indonesia. It is conferred on individuals who have rendered exceptional service towards the unity, continuity and prosperity of the Republic of Indonesia.
The honour underscores the deepening strategic partnership between India and Indonesia and reflects the growing cooperation between the two countries across political, economic, cultural and regional domains. (Agencies)
