Airstrikes Kill 13 Near Tehran, Hit Key Sites
by Northlines · NorthlinesDubai, Apr 6: At least 13 people were killed after an airstrike hit a residential building near Eslamshar, southwest of Tehran, early Monday, Iranian media reported, with additional strikes targeting key locations in the capital and nearby areas.
The semiofficial Fars News Agency and Nour News confirmed the strike near Eslamshar, though the intended target remained unclear. Neither Israel nor the United States claimed responsibility for the attacks, which followed recent tensions over the Strait of Hormuz.
Separate airstrikes also struck the Sharif University of Technology in Tehran, damaging buildings and a nearby natural gas distribution facility. The university, currently closed with classes shifted online due to the conflict, has faced international sanctions over alleged links to Iran’s missile programme run by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.
Security forces, including the Revolutionary Guard, have reportedly been using alternative locations as their bases continue to face repeated attacks.
Meanwhile, Iran’s state-run IRAN newspaper reported another airstrike in a residential area of Qom, a major Shiite religious centre south of Tehran, where at least five people were killed. The target of that strike also remained unknown.
Iran has not released updated overall casualty figures or details of material losses from the ongoing conflict in recent days. (Agencies)
