J&K: 6 Tourists Injured in Srinagar Hotel Lift Mishap

Srinagar, Apr 24: Six tourists from Bengaluru were injured after a lift reportedly collapsed at a hotel in the Hyderpora area of Srinagar on Friday, officials said.

 

The injured were shifted to Bone and Joint Hospital Barzulla, where doctors reported them to be stable with leg and lower body injuries.

 

The incident occurred at the hotel where the group was staying. The injured have been identified as Vinkatesh (65), D. Mangula (54), Kushalla (18), Pankaja (16), Venkatalakshmamma (60), and Sowbhagya (60), all residents of Bengaluru.

 

Officials said the exact cause of the lift collapse is yet to be ascertained, and no statement has been issued by the hotel management so far.

 

The incident has raised concerns over safety standards in hotels catering to tourists in the region. Authorities are expected to conduct an inquiry to determine the cause of the malfunction and fix responsibility if negligence is found. Further details are awaited.
