Jammu Tawi: The Judicial Inquiry Commission constituted to investigate the September 2025 violence in Leh has examined 93 witnesses up to the conclusion of the third phase of the inquiry.

The three-member commission, headed by former Supreme Court judge BS Chauhan, was constituted by the Ministry of Home Affairs to examine the circumstances surrounding the violence and the subsequent police action.

Officials said the commission is carrying out a detailed scrutiny of evidence and witness testimonies related to the incident in which four persons were killed and nearly 80 others injured during police firing.

Retired District and Sessions Judge Mohan Singh Parihar is serving as the judicial secretary to the commission, while Himanshu Sharma is appearing as counsel to the panel.

The commission is expected to continue recording statements and examining material evidence in the coming sittings to establish the sequence of events and determine accountability. (KNC)
