Police, SDRF Rescue Two Stranded in River Tawi in Jammu

Jammu, July 23: Jammu Police and the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) on Thursday rescued two persons who were stranded in the River Tawi near Prambli in Phallian Mandal after the water level rose suddenly, officials said.

The rescued persons were identified as Farman Ali, 25, a resident of Allora, and Farooq Ahmed, 28, a resident of Sohanjana.

According to police, the two had gone to the riverbank in the morning with their cattle for grazing when a sudden increase in the river’s water level left them stranded in the middle of the river.

On receiving information about the incident, Police Post Phallian Mandal immediately alerted the SDRF through the Police Control Room (PCR), Jammu.

A joint rescue team comprising the SDPO City South, the In-charge of Police Post Phallian Mandal, police personnel and SDRF officials rushed to the spot and launched a coordinated rescue operation.

After sustained efforts, the rescue teams safely evacuated both men without any injuries. They were later handed over to their family members.

Jammu Police lauded the swift response and effective coordination among all agencies involved, which ensured the successful rescue. Officials said the situation is now normal. (Agencies)
