Srinagar, Apr 26: Mansukh Mandaviya on Sunday flagged off the ‘Sunday on Cycle’ event on the banks of Dal Lake, stressing that citizens must be physically fit for India to become a developed nation.

Speaking during the event, the Union Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports said a healthy population is key to building a strong and developed country. “If citizens are fit, society will be healthy, and only a healthy society can make India a developed nation,” he said.

Mandaviya is in Srinagar to attend a three-day Chintan Shivir organised by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports.

Highlighting the nationwide push for fitness, he said the ‘Sunday on Cycle’ initiative is being held at around 16,000 locations across the country to promote active lifestyles.

He added that youth in Srinagar will now take forward the message of the Fit India Movement by participating in cycling activities every Sunday.

The event aimed to encourage fitness awareness and promote cycling as a healthy habit among citizens.
