Jammu Tawi, Apr 11: All the move offices of the Union Territory (UT) of Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) will close here at Jammu on 24th of April this month and will start functioning from the summer capital Srinagar from 4th of May next month and the process for the bi-annual darbar move has been started by the government on war footing.

The officers/some other employees working in the Civil Secretariat in Finance Department, Home Department, General Administration Department (GAD), Law Department, Education Department, Planning Department, Information Department, DGP office, CM’s office, health and medical education Department will also shift to Srinagar and will work from there from May 4th onwards.

“The move offices as part of bi-annual darabar practice will close here at Jammu on 24th of this month and will start functioning from the summer capital, Srinagar, from 4th of May next month,” official sources informed the Northlines.

In respect of presence of ministers in both Jammu and Srinagar after darbar move, the government will soon issue roaster and directions, they further said.

They further said that the preparations for darbar move in the Civil Secretariat at Jammu and other departments are in full swing and the list of documents/files to be shifted is also being finalized.

The Estates Department has also started process for providing accommodation to the officers and other employees at Srinagar and the renovation/repair work is nearing completion.

It may be mentioned that the Lieutenant Governor (LG), Manoj Sinha, stopped the bi-annual drabar move practice in 2021, two years after the erstwhile State of J&K was made UT by the Government of India (GoI).

The LG did this to save the heavy government expenditure involved in darbar move. However, the Omar Abdullah led government started the darbar move as it has promised so in its election manifesto.

It may be mentioned that thousands of employees move from Jammu to Srinagar and vice-versa with darbar move.
