J&K: Mock Emergency Response Drill Held In Poonch To Assess Readiness Of Security Forces
by Northlines · NorthlinesJAMMU, June 24: A joint mock emergency response drill was conducted in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district on Wednesday to assess the preparedness of security forces and civil agencies ahead of the monsoon season and the annual Buddha Amarnath Yatra.
The exercise was held near the S.K. Bridge area in Poonch town and simulated emergency situations, including flash floods, accidents and other disaster-related incidents.
Officials said the drill evaluated the response capabilities of participating agencies, including rescue operations, evacuation procedures and inter-agency coordination during emergencies.
Personnel from the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), Civil Defence, CRPF, Army and district police participated in the exercise, demonstrating rescue techniques and emergency response mechanisms.
According to officials, the mock drill forms part of the administration’s preparedness measures for the monsoon and the forthcoming Buddha Amarnath Yatra, which draws thousands of pilgrims to the border district every year.
They said such coordinated exercises help identify gaps in emergency response systems, strengthen coordination among various agencies and enhance overall disaster management capabilities to effectively deal with any eventuality. (Agencies)
