Jammu Tawi, Aug 22: The Jammu and Kashmir unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will hold its first-ever two-day Pradesh Working Committee meeting in Srinagar from Saturday, August 23, with senior party leaders, office-bearers and elected representatives expected to participate.
The meeting is being organised as part of the party’s organisational and political outreach in Kashmir following the formation of its new national team under BJP president Nitin Nabin.
All J&K BJP office-bearers, including its president, general secretaries, spokespersons, district presidents, mandal presidents and heads of various party morchas and cells, including the SC Morcha, OBC Morcha and Ex-Servicemen Cell, have reached or are scheduled to reach Srinagar for the meeting.
MP and the Union MoS in PMO and BJP national general secretary and J&K in-charge are also expected to attend the meeting, along with other senior party leaders and members of the Pradesh Working Committee.
The two-day deliberations are expected to focus on the prevailing political situation in Jammu and Kashmir, organisational matters and the party’s future strategy in the Union Territory.
The meeting assumes significance for the BJP as it is being held in Kashmir for the first time. Party leaders are expected to review the organisation’s activities and discuss measures to strengthen its presence across Jammu and Kashmir.
The discussions are also expected to cover ways of increasing the party’s outreach among different sections of society and strengthening coordination between its organisational units across the Union Territory.
Party sources said the broader objective would be to strengthen the BJP’s organisational position and prepare it for the next phase of political activity in Jammu and Kashmir.
