Jammu Tawi: The National Investigation Agency has taken over the probe into an interstate Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terror module and secured remand of five arrested operatives, including two Pakistani nationals, officials said on Monday.

The accused were produced before a special NIA court in Jammu, which granted two-day remand for the two Pakistani nationals and 15-day custody for three local residents.

The case stems from an April 7 operation by Jammu and Kashmir Police, which led to the arrest of five operatives, including Abdullah alias Abu Hureira, who had been absconding for 16 years and was allegedly involved in setting up bases outside the Union Territory.

The other arrested include Pakistani national Usman alias Khubaib and three Srinagar residents — Mohammad Naqeeb Bhat, Adil Rashid and Ghulam Mohammad Mir alias Mama.

Investigations revealed a deep-rooted network engaged in providing logistical and financial support to terror activities.

Officials said the NIA has taken over the case for further investigation to uncover the wider interstate links and operational network.
