Punjab Police ASI Found Dead With Gunshot Injury In Amritsar

CHANDIGARH/AMRITSAR, May 24: A Punjab Police assistant sub-inspector was found dead with a gunshot injury near the Fatehgarh Churian-Majithia road in Amritsar on Sunday, police said.

Senior Superintendent of Police, Amritsar (Rural), Suhail Mir Qasim said police received information about the body of ASI Joga Singh early Sunday following which a police team rushed to the spot.

The team, led by the Station House Officer of Majithia police station, secured the area while a forensic team examined the crime scene, the SSP said.

The body was later shifted to the Civil Hospital for post-mortem examination.

Police said they were investigating all possible angles, including personal enmity, road rage and other possible motives behind the incident.

The SSP also visited the spot where the body was recovered.

Further investigation is underway, police said. (Agencies)
