PM Ekta Mall at Rail Head Complex gets approval

The Jammu and Kashmir Government has granted administrative approval for the construction of the Prime Minister’s Ekta (PM Ekta) Mall at the Jammu Railway Head Complex. According to a government order issued by the Industries and Commerce Department, the ambitious project has been approved at an estimated cost of ₹125 crore.

As per the order, the project will be developed under the SASCI scheme, while the construction work will be executed by the Public Works Department (R&B). The government accorded administrative approval for the project on July 16, 2026.

The proposed mall will feature a modern RCC-framed structure equipped with state-of-the-art infrastructure, including a fire-fighting system, fire alarm system, electrical and lighting works, elevators, escalators, and other essential services.

Major Cost Components include, RCC Framed Structure: ₹57.35 crore, Additional RCC Works: ₹8.53 crore, Fire-Fighting System: ₹2.39 crore, Fire Alarm System: ₹2.14 crore, Services: ₹12.52 crore, Electrical Works, Lighting & Quality Assurance: ₹3.46 crore, Elevators: ₹1.29 crore, Escalators: ₹0.99 crore.

Once completed, the PM Ekta Mall is expected to provide modern commercial infrastructure at the Jammu Railway Head Complex. The project is also aimed at promoting local products by providing them with improved access to national markets, thereby boosting trade and supporting local artisans, entrepreneurs, and businesses.
