Live Mortar Shell Safely Destroyed Along LoC in Poonch

MENDHAR/JAMMU, Aug 21: The Army on Friday safely destroyed a live mortar shell detected along the Line of Control (LoC) in the Mankote sector of Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district, officials said.

The mortar shell was found in the Dabraj area, following which the Army’s Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) was called in to neutralise the explosive.

The squad carried out a controlled disposal operation and safely destroyed the mortar shell, officials said.

No loss of life or damage to property was reported during the operation.

The recovery of the live mortar shell prompted the authorities to take immediate precautionary measures and ensure its safe disposal.
