EOW Jammu Chargesheets Two In Fraudulent Land Deal Case
by Northlines · NorthlinesJammu, September 14: The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of Crime Branch Jammu has filed a chargesheet against two accused persons in a case involving an alleged fraudulent land transaction of Rs 16.50 lakh.
The chargesheet was filed before the Court of Special Municipal Mobile Magistrate, Jammu, in FIR No. 21/2025 registered under Sections 420 and 120-B of the IPC at Police Station Crime Branch EOW Jammu against Rahul Dasgotra and Sneha Verma.
The case originated from a written complaint by Dr Anjan Bhola, who alleged that Dasgotra represented himself as the owner of land at Village Patyari (Bhatyari), Bishnah, and induced him to enter into an agreement for purchase of one kanal of land for Rs 16.50 lakh.
During investigation, the notarised Agreement to Sell dated June 20, 2023, along with relevant bank and revenue records, was seized and examined. Investigators found that the complainant had transferred Rs 10 lakh and Rs 6.50 lakh in two instalments into a Canara Bank account maintained in the name of Om Sai Construction, owned by Sneha Verma, wife of Rahul Dasgotra.
Verification of revenue records obtained from the Tehsildar, Bishnah, further revealed that Khasra No. 1152 min, on the basis of which the land transaction had allegedly been represented, did not exist in Village Patyari (Bhatyari), Bishnah.
The investigation, conducted under the supervision of Dy SP Goldy Sharma, established sufficient evidence against both accused, following which the chargesheet was filed for judicial determination.
SSP Crime Branch EOW Jammu Faisal Qureshi advised people to remain vigilant against economic frauds and report such incidents to the Crime Branch.
