NEW DELHI, Sept 11: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday expressed confidence that the upcoming BRICS Summit in New Delhi will witness positive and meaningful discussions on a range of issues, driven by a shared commitment to global welfare.

India is hosting the BRICS Summit from September 12 to 13, with leaders from 11 member countries and 10 partner countries, along with representatives of international organisations, expected to participate.

“Over the next few days, leaders from around the world will gather for the BRICS Summit. I am fully confident that there will be positive and meaningful discussions on various issues with a shared wish for global welfare,” Modi said in a post on X.

The summit is expected to provide an opportunity for participating countries to deliberate on key global and regional issues and explore greater cooperation among BRICS members and partner nations.

Russian President Vladimir Putin, Chinese President Xi Jinping and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian are among the prominent leaders attending the summit.

The meeting comes amid a challenging global environment marked by geopolitical tensions and economic uncertainties, making discussions among major emerging economies particularly significant. (Agencies)
