Passenger Shot Dead on Kolkata–Jammu Tawi Express Near Varanasi
by Northlines · NorthlinesVaranasi, May 11: A passenger was shot dead in coach number S-2 of the running Kolkata-Jammu Tawi Express train.
The incident came to light on Monday. It is reported that the incident occurred late Sunday night.
When the train reached Varanasi Junction around 2 am, the police removed the body and began an investigation.
According to police, Dinesh Shah, a resident of Gaya district in Bihar, was travelling to Sitapur with his sister and other relatives. They were travelling in the S-2 coach of train number 13151 Kolkata-Jammu Tawi Express, while his sister and relatives were travelling in the general compartment.
The train departed from Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay Junction around 1:30 am on Sunday night when an unknown person shot Dinesh Shah near the bathroom.
Upon hearing the gunshot, other passengers rushed to the spot and informed the running staff. The body was removed from the train at Varanasi Junction. The family has not revealed a motive for the murder. The whereabouts of the attacker, where and how he got off the train, or even made his way to the next station remain a mystery. (UNI)
