CHANDIGARH, Apr 30: The Punjab Police has busted an espionage module allegedly backed by Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), arresting a key operative from Ferozepur, officials said on Thursday.

Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav said the Counter Intelligence Wing in Jalandhar recovered China-made solar-powered CCTV cameras with 4G connectivity from Kapurthala during the operation.

The accused, identified as Sukhwinder Singh, was allegedly working with associates to install these devices at strategic locations. Investigations revealed that the cameras were used to monitor sensitive sites, including Army-linked establishments, and transmit live footage to handlers based in Pakistan via mobile applications.

Police said the module was part of a larger espionage network aimed at gathering critical information.

An FIR has been registered at the State Special Operation Cell police station in Amritsar, and further investigations are underway to identify other members and links of the network.

Officials said more recoveries and arrests are likely as the probe progresses.
