J&K: One Dead, Seven Hospitalised After Consuming Wild Vegetable In Rajouri

Rajouri/Jammu, May 16: One person died and seven others, mostly children, were hospitalised after allegedly consuming a wild vegetable in Rajouri district, officials said on Saturday.

 

The incident occurred in Mohra village of Kotranka subdivision, where members of two families developed symptoms of food poisoning after eating the vegetable on Friday evening.

 

All the affected persons were first taken to the Community Health Centre in Kandi and later referred to Government Medical College Hospital Rajouri for specialised treatment.

 

Officials said an elderly man, identified as Mohammad Hussain (60), died during treatment, while seven others continue to receive medical care at the hospital.

 

“Prima facie, it appears to be a case of food poisoning, but investigations are ongoing,” a doctor said.

 

Authorities have launched a probe to ascertain the exact cause of the incident. (Agencies)
