A MAN – known as David Law – who reportedly swam to Jersey in September 2024 has been deported from the Island back to his home country, which the JEP reported on Saturday was China.
The newspaper also revealed his surname as ‘Wang’ .
Today, the Jersey Customs and Immigration Service confirmed that the man left the Island yesterday, accompanied by its officers, after more than two years in custody.
In a statement, it said: “JCIS can confirm that, following detailed and lengthy enquires undertaken with a number of jurisdictions, both in Europe and beyond, the individual known as David Henry Law has been deported from the island.
“JCIS have identified the individual’s true nationality and identity and can confirm that he is not a British national, and therefore has no right to reside in Jersey.”
It added: “The individual was flown to the UK with officers from JCIS on Tuesday 19 May where he was met by UK Border Force officials before being returned to his home country.
“In line with other deportation cases, JCIS will not provide comment in respect of the identity of the individual.
“JCIS can confirm that the man claiming to be Mr Law did not at any time apply for asylum in Jersey.”
