GABRIEL Raimondo became the youngest-ever States Member when he was elected in St Brelade less than a fortnight after turning 18.

The former Victoria College student, who left school at Easter to concentrate on his election campaign, finished third in the ballot with 1,603 votes, behind sitting Deputies Jonathan Renouf, who polled 2,414 and Reform Jersey’s Montfort Tadier (2,122).

The unsuccessful candidate was veteran John Young, who was seeking a political comeback on behalf of Reform Jersey but only polled 1,152 votes.

The St Brelade result was the last to be announced at just after 3.30am.
