Created by Emmy winner J.G. Quintel (Regular Show) and graphic novel creator Jillian Tamaki, the surreal comedy SuperMutant Magic Academy is set at a high school where the student body is a mix of mutants and "regular" kids. Through the eyes of Marsha, a sardonic new transfer student with a mysterious past, the series follows the awkward high school struggles and occasional triumphs of a diverse cast of teens as they stumble through romance, friendships, and growing mutant powers. Produced for Adult Swim by Cartoon Network Studios, the animated series adaptation was first announced in June 2024. Now, thanks to today's Annecy International Animation Film Festival, we're getting our best look yet at what's to come – and those who attended the annual global celebration of animation got an even better look.

With showrunner and co-executive producer Calvin Wong (Regular Show, We Baby Bears) and Tamaki on hand, those in attendance at the event were treated to a sizzle reel of the action, drama, and intrigue that is SuperMutant Magic Academy. Unfortunately, that wasn't released to the public. But what we did get was about a dozen preview images to tide us over until more details on the animated adaptation drop – and we have those waiting for you below. Warner Bros. Discovery is planning a major presence this week at Annecy, with Adult Swim already making headlines on Tuesday on a number of fronts, and more major animation announcements expected between today and the end of the week.
