Suspected Boko Haram members arrested in Adamawa

Suspected Boko Haram members have been arrested by troops of the Nigerian military in Balda community, Gombi Local Government Area of Adamawa State.

This was disclosed by security analyst and counter-insurgency expert, Zagazola Makama via his X handle.

According to his post, the suspects include one John Ado and two others whose identities are yet to be fully confirmed.

Security sources told Zagazola Makama that the suspects were apprehended on March 29 during ongoing counter-terrorism operations in the area.

The sources said the trio were among foot soldiers of the insurgent group allegedly involved in attacks in parts of Southern Borno.

According to the sources, the suspects confessed during preliminary interrogation that they served as collectors of looted items during operations and did not directly engage in combat.

“They admitted to handling items recovered during recent attacks in Ngoshe rather than participating in frontline fighting,” the source said.

The sources further disclosed that intelligence obtained from the suspects indicated that their leaders had planned to attack a military barracks in Mubi with the aim of stealing explosives.

The alleged plan, they said, also included using the explosives to destroy a bridge over River Benue in Yola, in an attempt to disrupt movement and economic activities.
