Troops neutralise three terrorists in Katsina
by Francis Ugwu · Daily PostTroops of the Nigerian Army under Operation Fansan Yamma have neutralised three suspected terrorists in Katsina.
The development followed an ambush operation along the Turare-Kitibawa-Kuka-Mai Damusa Road in Dutsin-Ma Local Government Area of Katsina State.
This was disclosed in a post on X on Sunday by Zagazola Makama, a counter-insurgency and security expert in Lake Chad region.
Makama stated that he was informed by military sources that the operation was carried out by troops of 17 Brigade deployed at the Forward Operating Base FUDMA as part of ongoing offensive operations against terrorists and criminal elements in the state.
According to the report, troops had taken up strategic blocking positions along the route following intelligence on the movement of fleeing terrorists from the Matazu general area.
“At about 9:40 p.m. on May 9, troops successfully ambushed the terrorists while they were attempting to escape ongoing military operations in the area,” the source said.
According to the sources, three suspected terrorists were neutralised during the encounter, while troops recovered one AK-47 rifle, one magazine loaded with three rounds of ammunition, one motorcycle, three cutlasses, assorted charms and the sum of N3,500.
Military authorities said the operation formed part of sustained offensives aimed at dismantling terrorist networks and restoring peace across Katsina State and adjoining areas.
