Kano: APC wins Dawakin Kudu/Warawa by-election
by Kabeer Bello · Daily PostThe All Progressives Congress (APC) has secured a decisive victory in the Dawakin Kudu Federal Constituency by-election which held in Kano State, following the official declaration of results by the Returning Officer, Professor Umar Sani of Bayero University, Kano.
Announcing the outcome at the collation centre, Professor Sani confirmed that the election was contested by multiple political parties and conducted across polling units within the constituency.
According to the official figures, Rabiu shuaibu of the APC polled 35,356 votes, defeating his closest rival, Lawal Garba Haruna of the African People’s Movement (APM), who scored 268 votes, while Abubakar Yahaya Muhammad of the Labour Party (LP) recorded 98 votes.
Declaring the result, the Returning Officer stated: “I hereby certify that I am the Returning Officer for the 2026 Dawakin Kudu Federal Constituency by-election held on 20th June 2026. The election was contested. The candidates received the following votes: Rabiu Shehu Aibu of APC scored 35,356 votes; Lawal Garba Haruna of APM scored 268 votes; and Abubakar Yahaya Muhammad of LP scored 98 votes.”
He added: “Rabiu Shehu Aibu of APC, having satisfied the requirements of the law, is hereby declared the winner and returned elected.”
The result confirms a sweeping victory for the APC candidate, who maintained a wide margin over opposition contenders throughout the exercise.
Election officials described the process as orderly, while final collation and certification were completed at the constituency level in accordance with electoral guidelines.
