Gombe APC primaries peaceful, orderly — Governor Inuwa Yahaya
by Nana Ismail · Daily PostGovernor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe State has described the All Progressives Congress (APC) House of Representatives primaries held across the state on Saturday as peaceful and orderly.
Speaking to journalists after voting at Jekadafari Ward, the governor said he was impressed by the turnout of party members and the smooth conduct of the exercise across the state.
Yahaya praised the election committee and party stakeholders for ensuring what he called a transparent and credible process for all aspirants.
“We are one big family, and there is no victor, no vanquished. As far as I am concerned, they are all APC members and I urge everyone to cooperate and unite for the success of our great party in the forthcoming general elections,” he said.
The governor also stressed the need for party members to remain united in order to sustain the developmental projects of the APC administration in Gombe State.
He added that the peaceful conduct of party members during the primaries reflected growing democratic maturity within the party and the state.
The chairman of the Primary Election Committee, Alhaji Labiru Musa Kafur, also commended the Gombe APC chapter for what he described as adherence to democratic principles.
“We are highly satisfied with the peaceful conduct and transparent process of the election,” Kafur said.
The direct primary election was held for the Gombe/Kwami/Funakaye Federal Constituency between Hon. Sadam Bello Saleh and Alhaji Zakariyya Jidda.
Another contest took place in the Balanga/Billiri Federal Constituency between serving lawmaker Ali Isa JC and Alfred John Attajiri.
