Police arrest six suspected drug peddlers in Delta, recover illicit substances
by Matthew Omonigho · Daily PostPolice operatives have arrested six suspected illicit drug peddlers and distributors and recovered large quantities of banned substances from the suspects.
Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, Bright Edafe, confirmed the report in a statement in Warri.
The statement read, “The Delta State Police Command cracked down on the sales and distribution of illicit drugs.
“In furtherance of the marching order by the Commissioner of Police, CP Samuel Erale, operatives of the Department of Operations, while on routine patrol along Alegwe Street, off Owa Road, Agbor, acted on credible intelligence and raided a store suspected to be used for the sale of illicit drugs.”

According to SP Edafe, “During the operation, six suspects were arrested, namely: Anabel Haruna (18), Terhemen Faith (19), Kaityo Abigail (23), Iorkee Eunice (26), Osomuri Emmanuel (31), and a 15-year-old female juvenile whose identity is withheld.”
SP Edafe explained that, “A subsequent search of a vehicle linked to the suspects led to the recovery of quantities of Tramadol, Rohypnol, and other suspected illicit substances.”
He noted that, “The suspects and exhibits are in custody, while investigation is ongoing.’
Meanwhile, the Delta State Commissioner of Police, CP Samuel E. Erale have warned that the command will continue to identify and dismantle drug distribution networks operating within the State.
He noted that the proliferation of illicit drugs fuels violent crime and other forms of criminality, directing operatives across the command to intensify intelligence gathering and enforcement against drug dealers and their networks.
He stressed that Delta State will not be allowed to become a haven for illicit drug trade or any form of criminal enterprise.
