Police arrest suspect over alleged N630,000 robbery in Yobe
by Hafsat Bello · Daily PostThe Yobe State Police Command has arrested a 32-year-old man, Auwal Mallam Ari, over the alleged robbery of N630,000 from two persons in Goneri, Yunusari Local Government Area of the state.
The command’s Public Relations Officer, ASP Yusuf Adamu Aliyu, disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday.
Aliyu said the State Criminal Investigation Department in Damaturu received a complaint on August 16, 2026, from Goni Abdullahi of Baimari, who reported receiving threatening phone calls and being dispossessed of N130,000.
According to the police, investigations led to the arrest of Ari, who promptly confessed to the offence.

The suspect reportedly told investigators that he and his accomplices had earlier collected N500,000 from another victim, identified as Malam Alarama, a resident of Goneri.
The police said Ari further mentioned one Audu Baimari as the alleged leader of the group.
However, the statement revealed that Baimari is still at large and efforts are underway to apprehend him.
