2027 presidency: Anxiety as court set to commence hearing on Jonathan’s eligibility [Video]
by Francis Ugwu · Daily PostNigerians are anxiously waiting as a Federal High Court in Abuja begins hearing on the eligibility of former President Goodluck Jonathan to contest the 2027 presidential election.
DAILY POST reports that Jonathan is expected to appear in court in person on Friday as proceedings continue over the matter.
The development comes barely 24 hours after the former president signalled his intention to contest the forthcoming 2027 presidential election during an address in Abuja on Thursday.
Jonathan’s comments followed a march by a group of supporters to his residence, where they urged him to join the presidential race.
Responding, the former president stressed the need for patriotism, peace and credible elections in Nigeria.
“Presidential race is not a computer game, but I heard you, and I will consult widely,” Jonathan said.
DAILY POST sighted a video posted online Friday showing that the court was set to begin hearing on the matter.
